My name is Omar Passons. I live in the North Park community of San Diego. I am a construction, land use, and business litigation attorney (professional bio) and I am pretty engaged in trying to make the San Diego-baja region even more incredible for more of the people who live here. A few years ago I realized all my hobbies weren’t really hobbies, they were more work. This was fine, but I was never really just doing something for the enjoyment of it. So I started a blog about four things I really enjoy: food, drink, charity and travel. Because I am not terribly clever I just went with eat.drink.give.go for the name.
I’ve heard people say I never write any bad reviews about places I’ve visited. That’s generally true, but it’s because anyone with a phone and Yelp can find out what people are saying negatively about a place. I write mostly about small independent businesses and frankly they have a hard enough go of it without me piling on. I focus on places I like and follow what my mom taught me growing up…”if you can’t say something nice, keep your mouth shut.” Good advice, ma. I’ll write about the people and places and breweries that I think respect what they do, produce a great product, care about their employees and the community in which they live, and are trying to be sustainable in their treatment of the earth. I’ll tell you what I prefer on a given menu, after I’ve dropped by and tried it a few times in case they had an off night, but generally you’ll have to rely on Internet trolls or people whose job it is to be a food critic for negative stuff. If I take the time to write something bad, that means it was really bad.
I’ve spent much of the last decade eating, drinking, and donating my time (and some of our household money) in the San Diego-baja region. I love this place and want to share it with as many people as will listen. We travel abroad and around the country, but I’ve really been enjoying Tijuana, the Valle de Guadalupe, Rosarito, and Ensenada because they have become cultural destinations for music, food, art, wine, and interesting experiences. So sharing the mixture of worlds that our region offers is a huge part of my free time. And talking about San Diego Craft Beer is something I am always happy to do. Thanks for dropping by, if you want to reach me, my email is email@example.com or you can follow me on Twitter here. I hope you enjoy what you find and maybe learn something new while you’re here. Oh, and be sure to check out my Giving Series on people who make a difference with their own time, talent and treasure. Here’s a bit more about me. Have a great day. Cheers.
